The Safety Manger is responsible for the development and management of safety programs across various industries while also cultivating a strong organizational culture that prioritizes employee well-being, engagement, and collaboration. This role integrates industrial safety, health, and environmental responsibilities with initiatives to enhance workplace culture and employee satisfaction, driving both safety and organizational effectiveness.

  • Create, promote and manage company-wide safety policies and procedures.
  • Develops and implements thorough safety training programs.
  • Ensure that each of the Atonne businesses operate in compliance with OSHA, EPA and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Work with leadership and lead initiatives to foster a culture of collaboration, trust and safety.
  • Develop and lead a network of safety & culture champions across departments who can lead initiatives at the local level.
  • Ensure that safety and cultural practices are embedded in day-to-day operations.
  • Engage with Human Resources and our wellness vendor, to build and develop wellness programs and strategies that help support employee wellness.
  • Track safety-related metrics such as incident rates, workers' compensation claims, days restricted and lost workdays related to workers compensation to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Actively involved with all workers’ compensation claims to ensure proper claim management and efficient resolution.
  • Develop, promote and manage a near miss program.
  • Implement and train safety team members on proper incident investigations to determine root causes of incidents and accidents.
  • Research and recommend safety technologies and tools.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Conduct audits at different facilities and collaborates with leadership on finding and corrective action.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering or a related field is preferred or combination of relevant work experience and education.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) are preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in managing a health and safety program, with part of that experience in manufacturing.
  • Proven history in implementing safety programs and fostering positive workplace cultures.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments, safety audits, incident and accident investigations and managing regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and other safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Essential Functions, Physical Demands & Work Environment: The Safety Manager will work in both an office and a shop environment. Some travel is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to stand and sit, walk, reach with hands, they should expect exposure to noise from machinery and potential exposure to dust or fumes. The use of required personal protective equipment such as hearing protection, safety glasses, etc. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and requires the use and knowledge of specific software.
