Position Summary:

Sovah Martinsville is seeking a full-time Radiology Tech to perform various imaging procedures by applicable scope and standards of practice.

  • Review patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within the scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patients and repeating procedures. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
  • Obtains images with the portable units as deemed necessary on the floors and operating room as well as within the radiology department. (Registry Eligible Technologist must be accompanied by a registered technologist while in the Operating Room.)
  • Observe Radiology Safety Guidelines.

Minimum Education:

  • Graduate or Registry Eligible Radiologic Technologist of an educational program in Radiologic Technology.
  • ** Registry Eligible Technologist must be registered within three (3) months of graduation.

Required Skills:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Proficient in diagnostic exams, fluoroscopy, and invasive procedures/exams.
  • Knowledge of all diagnostic radiological equipment.
  • Computer skills desired.
  • Flexibility in adapting to changing work demands and priorities.

Required  Certifications/Licenses:

  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
  • Registered or Registry Eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Minimum Work Experience:

  • Previous clinical experience in Diagnostic Radiology desired.
