Responsibilities:

• Drive Manufacturing Engineering team, system integration activities, and DFx in a cross-functional work environment to deliver reliable, high performance hardware prototypes
• Scale state-of-the-art hardware prototypes from concept to pilot-production volumes
• Grow in-house manufacturing capabilities and manage external manufacturing partnerships
• Raise the bar for manufacturing excellence and best practices by developing, and continuously improving, processes and relationships which empower researchers and design engineers to build increasingly complex systems

Required Qualifications:

• BS/MS degree in the fields of Mechanical engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related area, or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of experience scaling processes to pilot-production or mass manufacture, and implementing quality control procedures to resolve processing problems
• Experience with a wide variety of manufacturing techniques for soft wearable devices, including textiles, polymer processing, electromechanical integration, lamination, and adhesive bonding
• Experience designing and implementing process development plans, design of experiments (DOE), establishing critical process parameters and quality control strategies
• Project management skills with experience directing priorities to a cross-functional team to meet schedule milestones and stakeholder requirements

Desired Qualifications:

• 8+ years working on high-volume consumer products
• Experience with design and/or production of wearable technologies
• Experience with mass production of systems requiring multiple manufacturing processes such as: soft goods cutting, laminating, and kitting; active optical alignment, casting, molding, machining, electronics packaging, coatings, additive manufacturing
• Experience in the domain of design for manufacturing, assembly, or reliability
• Experience with CAD, such as SolidWorks or related programs

Top 3 Must-Have Skills:

1. Technical documentation - a major output will be requirements and retrospective documents (in addition to delivery of the functional prototypes)
2. Project management - will be working with a small team to execute prototype builds
3. Deals well with ambiguity - as a research org we are learning as we go so comfort with a constant level of ambiguity is helpful

Nice-to-Have Skills:

1. NX - CAD package
2. NPI/NTI development
