The Engineering team has an opening for a Plumbing Designer.

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Position Summary

As a Plumbing Designer at DLR Group you will be responsible for the design of plumbing systems from schematics through construction administration on a wide range of building types. As part of our integrated design teams you create buildings that elevate the human experience through design. You would be responsible for leading and participating in the design process of plumbing building systems and preparing detailed plumbing design calculations and drawings to meet the requirements of the local codes.

The successful candidate will

  • Assist in developing project objectives, goals, and documentation policies.
  • Develop Plumbing designs from concept through completion of construction.
  • Prepare plumbing design calculations and plumbing system layouts.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports and narratives.
  • Coordinate plumbing design requirements with architectural, civil, electrical, interior design and other disciplines.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in a MEP firm working on commercial/public projects.
  • Proven experience as a Plumbing Designer on complex projects.
  • Experience with BIM (e.g. Autodesk Revit MEP) workflow.
  • Familiar with building/ plumbing codes and standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) or Professional Engineering license (PE).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or 2+ year technical degree from community college or relevant experience.
  • LEED Accredited Professional and previous experience participating in the LEED or other green rating system process.
  • Experience and interest in sustainable building design.
  • An appreciation and understanding of architectural design.

The potential pay range for this role is $75,000 to $110,000.
