Job Description

Responsibility

• Examine blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements for layouts and procedures
• Determine appropriate welding equipment or method based on project requirements
• Fit and assemble metal parts and subassemblies to fabricate production machines and other equipment.
• Cut, bend, and shape metal components using a range of fabrication equipment such as saws, lathes, drill presses, and grinders.
• Weld or join metal components together using various techniques and methods including MIG, TIG, and ARC welding.
• Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
• Conduct quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet safety and quality standards.
• Regularly maintain and clean all metal fabrication tools, equipment, and machinery used in the workshop.

General Skills & Qualifications

• Professional certification, such as AWS (American Welding Society)
• Experience with MIG and TIG welding
• Ability to lift 50 or more pounds and work in confined spaces
• Ability to prepare, read, and interpret blueprints, reports, instructions, procedures, and guidelines
• Proven success as a welder
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
• Good communication skills
• High school diploma or equivalent, with demonstrated knowledge of math and/or science
