Epsilon Systems SRS Repair, Inc. Is seeking a full-time Welder I in Portsmouth, VA.
Summary : Use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products.
Duties and Responsibilities :
\n - Operates safety equipment and uses safe work habits.
\n - Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
\n - Ignites torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits.
\n - Clamps, holds, tack-welds, heat-bends, grinds and/or bolts component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
\n - Detects faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials and notify supervisors.
\n - Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding.
\n - Monitors the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
\n - Recognizes, sets up, and operates hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.

Required Qualifications :
\n - High School Diploma or equivalent.
\n - Knowledge, or experience and must pass qualification test for each process
\n - Ability to obtain and maintain base access to assigned government/military/private installations.
\n - Knowledge of a range of welding principles, processes, and techniques requiring complete penetration and fusion of base and filler metals.
\n - Ability to maintain dimensions and tolerances to specifications, weld parts and structures that vary in size, shape and thickness.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a forklift and man-lift operator.
\n
ADA Notations:
\n - Requires walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of occasional and loud noises.
\n - Able to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts/yardarms (onboard ships).
\n - Able to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs. in weight.
\n - Must have manual and finger dexterity; able to grasp, manipulate, assemble small objects.
\n - Able to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
\n - Able to perceive and distinguish normal range of colors.
\n - May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
