Registered Nurse Correctional
Location: Route 2, Box 336, Diamondback Correctional Facility, Watonga, OK 73772

 

• Shift: Night Shift | 3x12 hours | 36 hours per week
• Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (Initial)
• Guarantee: 36 hours/week
• Availability: Must have open availability per client scheduling policy
• Days per Week: 3
• U.S. Citizenship: Required for ICE clearance
• ICE Clearance: Takes approximately 3–4 weeks (ICE Clearance Screening Form required with submission)

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to inmates/residents in a correctional facility, ensuring compliance with medical, legal, and institutional standards. This includes direct patient care, medication administration, triage, emergency response, and supervision of support staff. The RN ensures the safety, well-being, and dignity of all patients while maintaining strict security and confidentiality.

• Deliver direct patient care and assist Licensed Independent Providers during examinations and treatments.
• Administer and document medications accurately in accordance with policies.
• Conduct sick calls, assessments, and triage for inmates/residents.
• Respond to medical emergencies and perform life-saving interventions as needed.
• Supervise and guide LPNs, LVNs, and non-licensed staff to ensure quality nursing care.
• Maintain security and confidentiality of medical records and supplies.
• Prepare and maintain medical documentation, reports, and logs.
• Participate in audits, safety inspections, and accreditation activities (NCCHC/ACA/JCAHO).
• Provide health education and counseling individually or in groups.
• Coordinate or escort inmates/residents for medical treatments as necessary.
• Ensure adherence to pharmacy and formulary standards, particularly with controlled substances.
• Maintain compliance with all correctional, facility, and healthcare policies and procedures.

Education & Licensure

• Graduate of an accredited college or nursing program (degree or diploma).
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Oklahoma .
• Valid Driver’s License required.

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of professional nursing experience preferred.
• Correctional or acute care experience a plus.

• 13-week initial contract with possible extension.
• Fingerprinting and clearance required prior to start.
• Auto offer based on compliance and clearance approval.
