Inside the Role As part of the newly formed Truck Technology organization, The Integration and Coordination Team is critical in both the upper left and right sections of the “V” model software development process and is the single point of communication between the global software development team and the regional vehicle platform engineering teams to develop the best in class commercial vehicle features and customer experience.
This role will interface with Product Strategy and end user customers to translate market needs into technical requests to maximize synergies and commonality with Mercedes and Fuso brand commercial vehicles while maintaining the best in class customer experience for Freightliner and Western Star products including diesel, fuel cell, and battery electric vehicles.
This role will also be responsible for regional release of electronic hardware, software and configuration parameters into Freightliner and Western Star production application IMACS and be the first point of contact for software issues from manufacturing and service. This position will be part of a team of regional engineers responsible for implementation of all Truck Technology Software Domain of Propulsion and key cross functions such as Vehicle Electrical Architecture, Cybersecurity, Diagnostics, Functional Safety, Connectivity, and Software Release Management.
This position will negotiate product definition with Sales and Marketing and translate into technical software requirements for the global software development teams. This individual will design and release per serial logic and ensure successful Vehicle Electrical Programming (VEPs) of HiL, Test Trucks, and all production vehicles and be a key contributor to solving issues during test truck commissioning. What You Drive At DTNA - Translate product definition into software technical specifications
- Support global alignment of feature development requests
- Ensure successful Vehicle Electrical Programming Station (VEPS) Test and Production vehicles
- Diagnose and troubleshoot software issues on Test vehicles
- Ensure assigned ECUs are configured correctly for test workshops, production
- Resolve ECU and VEPS shopcalls, Custom Work Orders, and exemption requests
- Release of assigned ECU software, hardware, diagnostic and software design documentation
- Design and release per serial vehicle configuration matrixes and order intake compatibility rules
- Release ECU assemblies and both component and feature configuration parameters
- Triage all manufacturing programming or software issues related to assigned ECUs
- Resolve ECU configuration issues
- Participate in ongoing continuous improvement activities
Knowledge You Should Bring - Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering with 0-2 years of experience
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks on hand
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
- Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change
- Ability to attain a commercial driver’s license (CDL)
Exceptional Candidates Might Have - Previous experience with CANalyzer or other CAN based tools
- Previous experience with automotive systems
- Previous experience designing, diagnosing or troubleshooting ECUs and/or software
- Experience with DTNA production system tools (IMACS, ERS, Shopcall, VEPS)
- Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
