Duties/Responsibilities:The social media intern primarily supports the digital marketing and brand strategy team with the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Office of Marketing and Communications. They will have the opportunity to build a strong, diverse design portfolio featuring social media captions, social media graphics, social media videos, and campaigns that will support the marketing and outreach efforts of one of the largest colleges within the University of Georgia.

Position Summary:The Office of Marketing and Communications, a support unit for the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, will hire a candidate with a demonstrated knowledge of marketing basics and writing skills. This position will focus primarily on social media, event marketing, and strategic communications. This is perfect for someone who wantsto learn more about integrated communications and content marketing for various Georgia-focused audiences. Work 15 hours per week during business hours. Work hours are flexible and will be structured around class schedules and related deadlines.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position:● Demonstrated skill in developing and scheduling engaging and relevant social media copy for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn, utilizing existing content and news.
● Assist in pulling social media analytics and creating performance reports.
● Comfortable writing alt text and descriptive captions for social media content, or willing to learn.
● Comfortable identifying upcoming and current trends to help keep content fresh and up to date.
● Brainstorm and execute social media campaigns.
● Take initiative on a project and follow it through, start to finish.
● Excellent writing skills and grammar. Familiarity with AP Style is a plus.
● Comfortable with creating content for a wide variety of social media platforms.
● Comfortable filming short videos for Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and/or TikTok.
● Developing graphics in Canva and/or Adobe Illustrator/InDesign a plus.
● Available up to 15 hours/week in an office setting at the Hoke Smith Building on campus.
