Senior Hydrogeologist (Denver, CO)

Location: Denver, CO with Hybrid Flexibility

Compensation: $100,000–$160,000 + 10% Bonus (OTE $110,000 – 176,000)

AimHire is excited to partner with an industry-leading client in search of a Senior Hydrogeologist to take charge of complex hydrogeological and water resource projects across Colorado and beyond.

This is more than just a technical role—you’ll play a key leadership position managing multidisciplinary teams, mentoring junior staff, guiding clients, and influencing water planning across the region. What You'll Do

• Lead hydrogeological investigations, groundwater well design, permitting, testing, and development
• Interpret water level and quality data, and translate findings into meaningful project insights
• Conduct and review advanced analysis including Glover and drawdown evaluations, lag time, and well interference studies
• Provide support for complex Colorado water rights work: substitute supply plans, augmentation plans, and historical consumptive use analyses
• Review aquifer test data, geophysical logs, and system performance for groundwater development and rehabilitation
• Present findings and expert opinions to clients, stakeholders, and in legal proceedings
• Collaborate with regulatory agencies and client teams to ensure projects meet environmental and legal compliance

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in hydrogeology, geology, or engineering with a focus in Earth Sciences
• 10+ years of experience (at least 5 in consulting) and 5+ years in groundwater well design and construction
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, mentor staff, and communicate effectively with stakeholders
• Hands-on fieldwork experience and comfort with balancing office and site responsibilities
• Strong technical writing skills and proficiency in groundwater modeling tools and spreadsheet-based analysis
• Minimum of 5 years of consulting experience with a strong track record of managing billable hours in a client-focused environment, as opposed to solely corporate or internal project roles.

Preferred Experience:

• Master’s degree in a related field
• Knowledge of Colorado Water Law and Denver Basin aquifers
• Experience with municipal, irrigation, and residential groundwater systems
• Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro and groundwater modeling software
• Mechanical systems knowledge, including pumping and control systems
