Job Description The Department of Pediatrics, Heersink School of Medicine at The University of Alabama at Birmingham announces a full-time, regular, twelve-month faculty position with corresponding administrative responsibilities within the UAB Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neurology. This position incorporates clinical, interdisciplinary teaching, community activities, and may include some research. Applicants must have MD and be BE/BC in Neurology with neonatal neurology training. The ideal candidate will have experience in academic medicine. The successful candidate will be involved in graduate medical education activities through clinical education.
The selected candidate will work with the Division of Neonatology to develop a greater collaborative presence with the Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital, and in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children's of Alabama. The combined units make up one of the nation's largest populations of critically ill neonates in a single institution, and there is a need to provide more dedicated neurology expertise. The individual will work with the Division of Neonatology to create a sustainable model of consultation, ongoing care, and outpatient follow up.
The Division of Pediatric Neurology serves to provide expertise in clinical care, education, research, and service for both the University and the Children's of Alabama (COA) Health System. The Division's mission is manifold; to provide outstanding clinical care and management for children with neurologic disorders in the State of Alabama as well as the surrounding region, to offer a scope of services that guarantees a comprehensive ability to care for virtually any type of neuropathology, to educate our colleagues no matter the stage of training or area of health care, to develop new knowledge in the field that is worthy of dissemination, and to work with institutions and the community as advocates for children as well as for the ideal of exemplary health care.

Birmingham is well located in the Southeast with easy access to lakes, mountains, and gulf beaches.
