Position Overview:

The objective of this position is to enhance and lead the company's sales team by developing and implementing sales strategies and processes to meet company revenue goals and increase company profits.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and leads all the activities of the sales department, including development and hiring of internal sales team members
  • Cultivates and maintains business relationships
  • Defines and manages schedules, territories, divisions, products, and projects of inside sales team
  • Reviews and analyzes sales pipeline, using data to project sales, determine profitability and targets, as well as identify potential new markets
  • Consults with potential customers to understand needs; identifies, suggests, and educates potential customers on equipment, products, or services; acts as a technical sales expert for the company
  • Identifies and tracks customer preferences to direct sales efforts, specifically for strategic accounts
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to develop sales goals and strategies
  • Collaborates with operational leadership to solve problems and respond to customer inquiries
  • Prepares sales budget; monitors and approves expenses
  • Generates quotes and proposals; maintains AES pricing strategies
  • Attends/hosts customer required project meetings and trade shows
  • Hires and trains future sales staff; manages sales team employee performance in accordance with company policy
  • Develops and maintains departmental tools, including standardization of quoting and sales processes
  • Manages Customer Service representatives

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from start to finish
  • Excellent customer service, listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Management and leadership experience
  • Business acumen and understanding of business contracts
  • Valid driver's license; ability to travel including overnight stays
  • Engineering or technical sales background

Required Experience:

  • BA/BS degree required; engineering degree preferred
  • 8+ years' experience in technical sales
  • 5+ years' experience in sales management or business to business sales development
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Proven experience in specialty gas equipment sales is a plus
