Role: Power BI Developer

Location: Coppell, TX - 3 days onsite

Duration: Contract to hire

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Power BI Developer to join our team. You will be the sole Power BI developer, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining customer-facing reports. While you will have established reports to learn from, the ability to create new reports from scratch is essential. You will work closely with a vendor team providing three other resources, allowing for collaboration and support. This role focuses on backend development, including data extraction, transformation, and report creation. Expertise in Row Level Security (RLS) is crucial for managing access to reports for both customers and internal users.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI reports for external customers.
• Implement and manage Row Level Security (RLS) to ensure appropriate data access for different user groups (customers vs. internal users).
• Perform data extraction and transformation using Power Query.
• Develop complex DAX measures and calculations for insightful reporting.
• Write SQL queries to retrieve and manipulate data from the database for report creation.
• Create reports from scratch, including data modeling, visualization, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with the vendor team to ensure seamless integration and support.
• Learn and adapt to existing report structures and methodologies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to Power BI reports and data access.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Power BI features and best practices.

Required Skills:

• Proven experience as a Power BI Developer.
• Deep understanding and practical experience with Row Level Security (RLS).
• Strong proficiency in Power Query for data transformation.
• Extensive knowledge of DAX for creating complex calculations and measures.
• Solid SQL skills for querying and manipulating data.
• Ability to create reports from scratch, including data modeling and visualization.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience working with large datasets and optimizing report performance.
