Reports to: Director of Pharmacy/Staff Pharmacist
FLSA Code: Non-Exempt

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy and/or Staff Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Delivery Driver will assist the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technicians with packaging complete prescriptions for delivery to Highland Health Providers clinics and/or directly to patients. The Pharmacy Delivery Driver will work to meet the needs of Highland Health Providers' (HHP) population while adhering to federal, state, and local regulations.

Position Accountabilities
  • Deliver completed prescriptions and supplies to HHP clinics and/or directly to patients' homes and/or work in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving.
  • Maintain appropriate drug security and chain of custody.
  • Ensure proper storage of refrigerated products.
  • Verify receipt and provide signature receipt for all items delivered.
  • Operate motor vehicle complying with HHP guidelines, policies, and state regulations.
  • Help triage phone calls in the pharmacy department.
  • Run the register to check out prescriptions for patients when needed.
  • Report any vehicle needs or issues directly to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Interact with all customers, patients, shareholders in a kind and courteous fashion.
  • Accept payments from patients and reconcile cash deposits as needed.
  • Assist other pharmacy staff in daily reconciliation of register to complete deliveries.
  • Various other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

Education - Required: Must be 21 years of age or older. High school diploma or GED equivalent. A valid driver's license, automobile

insurance, and good driving record. Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Minimum Experience: Experience as a company courier or delivery driver. Ability to read and follow maps/directions to customer

locations.

Preferred Experience: Previous pharmacy experience.

Supervises: None

Physical Demands: This job requires frequent standing and sitting as well as driving long distances. The position requires the successful completion of a medical examination after an offer of hire has been made. The position requires the employee to be free of all unlawful substances and alcohol.

Work Environment: Occasional exposure to uncontrolled work environments. Combination of traditional office and medical office settings along with frequent delivery stops to residential and commercial locations. Exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions common to clinic setting. Occasional unpleasant and/or stressful work-related situations.

Work Schedule: The Pharmacy Delivery Driver normally works ~10 hours, 2-3 days per week according to pharmacy schedule and patient demand. Extended/Enhanced hours may be required to meet community/delivery program needs and demands.
