The Outdoor Program Staff creates, facilitates and/or directs activities in one or more of the assigned outdoor program areas including: archery, teambuilding, outdoor skills, boating, art & crafts, hiking, environmental education, drama, campfire, songs, games or other areas as assigned. Guide, supervise and counsel a unit of girls in outdoor program activities. Scope of work varies seasonally; summer work is predominately running program areas at troop or family camps; the reminder of the year is as a staff member with the Outdoor Adventure Club or providing outdoor programming to troops statewide. Work plans are developed with the Outdoor Program Manager in conjunction with program goals, policies, activity standards, and this job description.

**This position is on-demand, with schedules planned well in advance, and very part-time. We have multiple staff in this role so that you can work a schedule that is convenient for your life and/or work camps that are best suited to your particular skill set.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Documented training, experience or certification that demonstrates a history of working with youth, preferably in an outdoor setting.
  • Current or willing to obtain any of the following certifications: CPR/First Aid, Archery, USA Level 1 instructor, Boating, American Red Cross Small Craft Safety, Wilderness First Aid.
  • Ability to design, implement and facilitate activities in specialized program areas.
  • Ability to teach children in an informal outdoor setting.
  • Ability to maintain safety and risk management standards.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to changing situations.
  • Must pass all required background checks.
  • This role requires a non-restricted driver's license, active car insurance, active vehicle registration, and reliable transportation that may require bringing equipment and supplies to programs sites.
  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading, & writing English
  • Must be 18+ due to camp regulations.
  • Desired to be fluent in speaking, reading, & writing Spanish
  • Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and walk up to five miles in a day on uneven terrain and dirt roads.

This position pays a range of $ 17.50-$20.00 per hour.
