Overview

Materials Associate

Responsibilities


  • Perform a variety of manual/administrative tasks associated with receiving operations, shipping, inventory control, and stockroom activities in accordance with established procedures.
  • Utilize a variety of material handling/packaging equipment; identify correct parts, components, wires and other materials by part markings, color codes, container labels, etc.
  • Use desktop instructions, parts lists, forms, and other work instructions to complete tasks.
  • Perform bulk counting using scales and tape & reel counters; fill orders per BOM requirements.
  • Package parts in proper packaging material; follow proper material handling and packaging techniques to prevent damage.
  • Store, shelve, and place inventory properly; track materials (physical and systems); distribute material to internal plant locations.
  • Operate computer systems and printers for recording inventory transactions, generating labels, and labor charging; conduct cycle counts and record results.
  • Support customer service window and process basic material requisitions; unload/load trucks using appropriate lifting equipment as needed.
  • Unpack and verify material condition, count and receive incoming materials; elevate and resolve discrepancies with assistance.
  • Build and break down boxes; collect and dispose of materials; maintain packaging supply levels and replenish as needed.
  • Recognize and resolve inventory discrepancies/work area issues; maintain accurate records of all work performed (e.g., cycle counts, labor charging).
  • Train other employees and perform other duties as assigned.


Experience / Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years directly related experience
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Use basic measuring instruments
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Access and use computer systems (e.g., email, work instructions, attendance)
  • Steel-toed shoes required on start date (contractor responsibility)
  • Frequent lifting up to 35 lbs


Physical Demands
  • Transport products with or without carts; lift up to 35 pounds unassisted; stand or sit for extended periods; perform bending, squatting, reaching, and other movements
  • Operate material handling tools and equipment; work with products of various weights and sizes
  • Wear static control and personal protective equipment
