Logistics (Import/Export) Manager

W2 Contract

Pay Rate: $45 - $55 per hour

Location: San Jose, CA - Onsite Role

Job Summary:

As a Logistics Manager, you will oversee the import and export of products from our international suppliers and partners. You will work closely with internal teams and external logistics providers to ensure all activities are completed efficiently, accurately, and fully compliant with international and domestic trade regulations. You will manage the whole import/export process-from classification and customs clearance to documentation and compliance reporting. This role is a temporary, part-time position (20 hours/week) with the potential to increase to full-time (up to 40 hours/week) depending on availability and business needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Shipment Oversight: Manage end-to-end import/export processes, coordinating with suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal stakeholders.
• Customs Compliance: Ensure full compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, international trade laws, and applicable export control requirements.
• Documentation Management: Prepare, review, and maintain all required shipping and compliance documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, HTS codes, etc.).
• Broker & Vendor Liaison: Act as the main point of contact with customs brokers and third-party logistics providers to support timely, compliant shipments.
• Classification: Apply correct HTS codes and ensure accurate duty calculations for inbound shipments, particularly from China.
• Policy & Procedure Development: Assist in building or updating internal SOPs to enhance import/export compliance processes.
• Reporting: Submit internal compliance reports and external filings as needed to government authorities.
• Logistics Support: Provide ancillary support in shipment tracking, vendor communication, and documentation audits.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• 5-8 years of experience in import/export operations, U.S. Customs procedures, and international trade compliance
• Technical Knowledge: Expertise in HTS classification, duty calculation, and trade documentation
• Industry Insight: Familiarity with cold chain logistics, CapEx shipments, and imports related to NGS or biotech industries (preferred)
• Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving in fast-paced environments
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong organizational abilities
• Licensure: Licensed U.S. Customs Broker is a strong plus
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is highly preferred.
