Human Resources and Administrative Assistant Location Hybrid remote in Winona, MN : Human Resources and Administrative Assistant Monday - Friday - Full Time Hybrid Work Capability - 4 days in the office; 1 day remote (Friday) The Watkins Company has been a pioneer in natural flavoring products since 1868. Today, we are seeking a new member to join the fastest growing flavoring company in North America. The Watkins Company is excited to announce the opening for a full time, Human Resources and Administrative Assistant located in Winona, MN. The duties and responsibilities of the Human Resources and Administrative Assistant include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Performs administrative responsibilities for both Human Resources and senior level leadership within Watkins.
  • Assists in the development and execution of recruitment activities for nonexempt personnel. Corresponds with applicants; interviews candidates; prepares and delivers offers of employment, facilitates background checks, credit checks, and reference checks.
  • Works with Plant managers and the Director of Human Resources to determine temporary hiring needs within approved headcount to support temporary hiring needs with local staffing agencies to support peak and ad-hoc business demands.
  • Assists in the development of employee onboarding activities; schedules and performs new coworker orientation for new hires and temporary employees.
  • Completes weekly and monthly benefit bill processing including, but not limited to medical insurance, dental insurance, life and AD&D insurance, flexible spending insurances, and supplemental employee benefits; completes a cost center breakdown that is provided to accounting each month for spend allocation. Works with accounting for reconciliation.
  • Participates on human resources committees such as the safety committee and employee activities committee; assists in executing activities within these groups.
  • Compiles and maintains human resources files to include but not limited to, up-to-date personnel records, insurance files, leave of absence records, and worker compensation records. Assists in defining and keeping up-to-date record retention and destruction procedures.
  • Recommends and Develops action around The Watkins Co. Merchandise Giveaway and Contributions; works with outside agencies to organize pick up of materials.
  • Prepares, sorts, and distributes incoming and outgoing mail; performs basic clerical duties, prepares and processes UPS packages and shipments, as needed.
  • Maintains office supply inventory and updates product inventory as needed.
Our ideal candidate will at minimum:
  • High school diploma - required. Associate's degree in human resources and/or administrative certificate - preferred.
  • Minimum 6 months experience working in an administrative function, preferably supporting Human Resources.
  • Demonstrate intermediate (or higher) proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
