Key accountabilities include attending Pre-Screen meetings and individual deal screens with Commercial Bankers and other senior managers to discuss structure, risk, and resources; working closely with the team to navigate deals through the credit approval process; advising on credit actions related to the existing portfolio; ensuring timely past dues, reviews, renewals, and reporting; serving as a liaison with Credit Risk Management; providing guidance through underwriting to approval and closing; identifying and addressing bottlenecks in the Credit and Loan Closing process; advising on portfolio trends; attending industry events; and maintaining strong partnerships with other business functions. Compliance responsibilities include adhering to all applicable CIBC policies and standards. The role has authority to recommend business process changes and manage employees including hiring, performance assessment, compensation decisions, and disciplinary actions. The position requires a strong risk culture and adherence to CIBC’s Code of Conduct. Knowledge and skills required include a degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Economics (preferred), minimum 10 years’ experience in Commercial Banking, credit expertise, formal credit training preferred, supervisory experience, strong relationship management skills, risk identification, proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial analysis, and ongoing industry learning.
