Grants & Corporate Engagement Coordinator

The Grants & Corporate Engagement Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing administrative support to the Manager of Grants & Corporate Partners and Investments in all aspects of grant and corporate fundraising, including maintaining the grants and corporate records in the Salesforce database, processing and acknowledging gifts, researching potential new funders, collecting data and preparing grant reports, and drafting grant proposals.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Administrative (25%)

• Ensures prompt acknowledgment of grants and corporate gifts and assists with funder recognition tasks.
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date records in SharePoint files and in the Salesforce database, including promptly entering grant and corporate donations.
• Prepares communication with current and prospective funders or sponsors on behalf of the Manager.
• Participates in department and team meetings, including preparing agendas and facilitating the meeting.
• Support occasional special events, including nights and weekends.
• Completes other related tasks as assigned by Manager or Director.

Grants and Corporate Giving (75%)

• Conducts prospect research to identify and recommend potential funders and sponsors.
• Drafts proposals to foundations and corporate partners for review and approval by Manager, persuasively communicating the organization's mission and programs.
• Submits online grant proposals ahead of due dates adhering to funder's guidelines and requirements.
• Gathers data and drafts grant reports for review and approval by Manager.
• Pulls reports from the Salesforce database to gather program details for grant tracking and reporting.
• Assists with securing corporate sponsorships for Ceres' Harvest of the Heart annual event, including related stewardship and recognition tasks.
• Provides support as needed to the Manager in a timely manner.
• Completes other related tasks as assigned by Manager or Director.

Qualifications

• One or more years of grant writing and/or relevant experience required.
• Excellent written communication skills: ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
• Ability to work well under pressure, seek and synthesize information, and communicate succinctly.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines, and practice sound judgment.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Skilled online researcher and familiarity with grant research databases.
• Excellent computer skills and high degree of comfort with computer technology. Must be proficient with Word and Excel and prefer some knowledge of Salesforce or previous database experience.

• BA Degree or equivalent experience required.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel to Ceres' sites and events in the region.

Physical Demands/ Work Environment

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or sit at a workstation; use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse; talk and hear to communicate with coworkers.
• Light to moderate lifting of up to 20 pounds, bending, stooping and climbing a ladder is occasionally required.
• The work environment is primarily indoors with the majority of time spent sitting at a desk, on the phone or a computer, with moderate noise (office equipment, conversation from adjacent coworkers and commercial kitchen equipment) in the background.
• Must be able to sit or stand at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.

Ceres Organization

Founded in 2007, Ceres Community Project works to build healthy communities by restoring whole, organic and locally grown food to its place as the foundation of health, empowering youth, and connecting people in heart-centered ways to others and the earth.

Ceres Community Project's main program, Healing Meals for Healthy Communities, provides free and low-cost nourishing organic meals, nutrition education and caring support to people facing serious illness. All of the meals are prepared by teens that learn about growing, cooking and eating healthy whole foods and the connection between diet and health, develop life and work-ready skills, and discover their power to make a difference. The Healing Meals Program improves healthy eating behaviors among clients, teens and adult volunteers and educates the whole community about the link between healthy eating and the health of both people and planet. It also strengthens the social fabric of the community, another factor that is at the root of health. In times of disaster, Ceres is an emergency nutrition provider for our community.

In addition to operating three program sites in Marin and Sonoma counties, Ceres has trained 13 communities nationally to replicate our model. We are also active at the state and national level in advocating for policies that support equitable access to healthy food and health care, including reimbursement for medically tailored meals by insurers.
