This position demands a high level of technical skill, problem-solving ability, and autonomy in decision-making.

Working closely with engineering, flight test, and quality teams, the Aircraft Technician II ensures experimental aircraft and test assets are maintained, configured, and documented to the highest safety and performance standards, directly supporting DeltaHawk's mission of innovation and aviation safety.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians; assist in on-the-job training
  • Author or revise shop procedures and contribute to process development for new builds and test configurations
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of work performed, including changes to aircraft systems or configurations
  • Support and execute ground and flight test operations, including pre-flight inspections, test setup, and post-test analysis
  • Identify and proactively address safety or quality issues in the shop or hangar environment

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in experimental, military, general aviation, or light sport aircraft maintenance
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (FAA, ASTM, etc.) and experimental aircraft certification practices
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited oversight in a dynamic R&D environment
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills without reliance on OEM documentation
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documents
  • An active plan underway to obtain A&P certification
  • Strong organizational skills in managing tools, parts, and test setups
  • Effective verbal and written communication, including clear documentation of changes, issues, and procedures
  • Computer proficiency in file management, spreadsheets, and digital documentation systems
  • Physical ability to lift 45 lbs multiple times per shift and work in a variety of positions
  • Overtime and domestic travel may be required
  • Tools will be provided

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with experimental aircraft, homebuilt aircraft, or prototype engine integration
  • Familiarity with FAA experimental aircraft inspection, documentation, and sign-off procedures
  • Expertise in at least one aircraft system (e.g., electrical harnessing, avionics wiring, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, etc.)
  • Experience with basic machining, fabrication, or composite repair
  • Prior involvement in flight test programs or engine development projects is highly desirable

Working Conditions

Work is conducted in typical hangar, mechanical shop, and engine test cell environments. This position may occasionally require travel, overtime, or off-site support during critical testing or integration phases. Safety protocols must be followed at all times in accordance with company and FAA standards.
