Analytics Director of Data Science - Analytics Innovation, Retail & CPG Job ID: 96613 Your Impact As a Director of Data Science, your responsibilities will include leading internal data science and product development teams, as well as engaging with clients across various topics. You will drive innovation by defining analytics use cases, aligning with stakeholders on priorities, and contributing to the roadmap for analytical code innovation, including AI/ML approaches and automation at scale. You will oversee architectural decisions related to analytics, model evaluation, and technology recommendations. Additionally, you will provide expert leadership on client projects by engaging directly with clients and consulting teams, shaping analytics approaches, reviewing insights, and coaching teams to adopt best practices. Your Growth You will collaborate with our Periscope Retail and CPG solutions teams to foster analytical innovation and engage with clients and McKinsey consulting teams. You will have opportunities to drive industry-leading innovations and apply them to client situations. Periscope, founded in 2007, develops analytical approaches and software for commercial decision-making, focusing on B2C, CPG, and B2B sectors. Your Qualifications and Skills Advanced degree in applied math, economics, statistics, or related quantitative field 10+ years of experience in consulting, retail pricing, or promotional management with practical data analysis expertise Proficiency in advanced analytics techniques, including econometrics, ML models like XGBoost and decision trees, and optimization solvers Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Agent AI applications Experience developing analytical solutions for internal and external use Strong knowledge of statistical packages and comfort with Python and R Experience managing a team of analysts Self-motivated, able to work with ambiguity, and possess strong communication skills Ability to engage with all management levels and communicate business risks effectively Strategic thinker with a holistic client focus and problem-solving skills Excellent at managing multiple priorities and demonstrating leadership and empathy Please review additional requirements regarding essential job functions of McKinsey colleagues.
