ERM is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Consulting Associate, Geology to join our growing team in Hartford, CT. The successful candidate will work on a variety of interesting site investigation, remediation, and hazardous waste management projects throughout our Great Lakes Northeast Business Unit service area; however, opportunities for travel throughout the United States and globally may also occur. You may also have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, covering the full spectrum of ERM’s services. This is a great opportunity to work with ERM's technical experts to implement the latest investigation and remediation technologies, while building the required experience to obtain your professional registration. Responsibilities include conducting field work such as soil, sediment, groundwater, building, waste, and surface water sampling, aquifer testing, drilling oversight and soil logging, soil boring and monitoring well installation, well development, purging and sampling, and construction oversight. Coordinate and direct drilling, surveying, and laboratory services. Provide support for environmental remediation/demolition projects, and operations and maintenance of environmental remediation systems. Compile and evaluate environmental data, assist in report preparation for regulatory agencies, review groundwater chemistry data, perform Phase I and II environmental site assessments, ensure compliance with regulations, work within quality/budget/schedule expectations, and communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients during field activities. Requirements include a BS in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or environmental engineering or equivalent experience, recent graduate to 1+ years of experience, ability to work independently and as part of a team, effective communication and organizational skills, detail-oriented with mechanical aptitude, environmental field work experience and 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification a plus, up to 75% regional travel with possible overnight stays, strong commitment to safety, and a valid driver's license due to frequent travel.
