Our client is seeking an experienced Concrete Finisher to join our team in the Greater Madison area. This position is responsible for the placement, finishing, and repair of poured concrete for commercial and residential projects, including floors, slabs, sidewalks, driveways, stoops, stairs, and other flatwork surfaces. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of concrete behavior, timing, and finishing techniques, with the ability to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities of the Concrete Finisher

  • Follow all safety guidelines and promote a safe work environment for self and crew.
  • Prepare, place, and finish concrete surfaces to specified grade and finish standards.
  • Operate and maintain finishing tools such as power trowels, floats, edgers, and screeds (including laser or ride-on screeds).
  • Build, set, and strip forms for flatwork projects.
  • Assist with the installation and tying of rebar or wire mesh when needed.
  • Ensure proper surface curing, sealing, and protection.
  • Apply finishing techniques such as brooming, edging, and stamping as required.
  • Maintain clean and organized job sites, trucks, and equipment.
  • Report equipment or vehicle malfunctions immediately to the Foreman.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet daily project objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements for the Concrete Finisher

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial or residential concrete finishing.
  • Proficiency in concrete placement, leveling, smoothing, edging, and texturing.
  • Knowledge of concrete curing times and environmental effects on finishing.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints or layout plans.
  • Experience operating walk-behind and ride-on power trowels, power/laser screeds, and hand tools.
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and work in outdoor conditions.
  • Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow directives from leadership.
