Our team in Houston currently has an opening for a Chemist
YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES Job Summary: The Chemist is responsible for conducting summary tests and inspecting products at various stages of process. The incumbent would then compile and evaluate statistical data to determine quality and reliability of various products.
Job Description: - Supervises a crew of three employees
- Performs regular safety checks with crew and ensures safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Responsible for shift pass down. Instructing the next staff on shift of incidents, expected workload etc.
- Ensuring effective communication between all team members.
- Responsible for packaging, filling, labeling, and storage of drums/totes/bags/supersacks of chemicals or chemical blends
- Written and oral communication with internal and external contacts
- Loads and unload trucks
- Operates a forklift
- Follow all operating procedures, work instructions and is familiar with the quality system manual.
- Communicates with Customer Service and purchasing on any delays with product shipments, questions on customer orders, etc.
- Responsible for reporting or elevating issues or problems within the warehouse to the Operations Manager.
- Reports all non-conformances as they occur using proper forms
- Performs duties of dispatch, truck routing, and contacting carriers
- Attends and actively participates in all safety and quality meetings as required
- Performs all duties in a safe manner and follow all rules and regulations
- Completes all training as required in the Regulatory/Compliance Training Program
- Properly use materials such as labels, placards, stenciling and paint
- Properly cares for and uses all equipment such as forklifts, drum handling equipment, pumps, hoses, etc.
- Other duties and assigned by Operations Manager
YOUR PROFILE Education and Experience: - A minimum of 3 years of Supervisory/Management experience in an industrial/chemical environment
- High School Diploma Required.
- Associates Degree or any Certifications relating to the work scope of the position is a plus.
- Must have the ability to repeatedly bend; lift, push, pull and or move up to 100 pounds; proper lifting techniques required
- Must be able to give and receive verbal and written instructions in the English language
- Comfortable with the use of a Forklift, and general warehouse duties
- Employment is contingent upon completion of background investigation, pre-employment fit for duty, E-Verify check, and pre-employment drug screening.
