Position Chemical Operator Overview Primary Location: Augusta, GA, USA Shift: Monday to Friday - 40 hours - Overtime Reports To: Operations Manager Compensation: $25.46 + benefits The US hourly rate for this position is $25.46 + benefits. Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and location. The hourly rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. About The Position and About You Support the plant by completing all required ACP operator duties and responsibilities, including development of the process and final product. Qualifications Knowledge High school diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum 1 year of experience working in chemical manufacturing or manufacturing/production. Experience working with forklifts preferred. Competencies Ability to demonstrate experience using Microsoft programs, maintenance management systems and email. Aptitude for mechanics. Willingness to comply with safety and quality regulations, including wearing protective gear when necessary. Ability to lift 50lbs or more. Responsibilities Perform chemical synthesis and blending operations according to Chemtrade Standards and Operating Procedures. Perform chemical product manufacturing operations in a safe and effective manner. Record information, such as ingredients, weights, and temperature, and input into database. Monitor and control pressure and temperature of chemical process equipment. Help develop and operate plant equipment using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Handle, transport, and process chemicals safely. Make batch corrections. Document plant processes and record production data. Operate truck and trailer opening and unloading of product, and operate pumps, piping, and valves. Troubleshoot equipment/operational problems and operate plant equipment as needed. Maintain plant inventory records. Operate mobile equipment: forklifts, skid steer, and other mobile equipment. Daily plant upkeep and maintenance; perform daily housekeeping duties. Rectify equipment or process malfunctions as necessary. Perform general laboratory analysis and calculations required to manufacture products and blends. Make Alum and ACP batches: process and manage batches to final destination; clean filters and other process equipment; move and offload raw materials; assist other operators when needed. Document and record production data for traceability. Environmental, Health & Safety Responsibilities Comply with all Chemtrade Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) policies and procedures. Report ES&H incidents (injuries, near misses, releases, etc.). Complete required ES&H training in a timely fashion, including online training courses. Attend facility ES&H meetings and participate in safety improvement activities. Provide feedback and suggestions for ES&H program improvement. Participate in job safety analysis activities. Complete and maintain safety and environmental documentation as required by site procedures and regulatory agencies. Working Environment Chemical manufacturing plant producing Liquid Alum, ACH and PAC chemicals, alongside ACP (All Clear +). Ability to work in 100-degree ambient temperatures while wearing PPE. Requires climbing stairs and ladders; lifting within OSHA guidelines; working on elevated surfaces. Work outdoors with potential exposure to radiant heat, cold, and rotating shifts. Adherence to plant safety guidelines (Confined Space, Working with Heights, Management of Change, Hot Work, Operating Procedures). Ability to work scheduled 8-hour days with intermittent 12-hour days during high demand or repairs. Physical capability to sit, stand, walk, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required. Site PPE requirements include hard hats, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, face shields, coveralls, acid-resistant suits, hearing protection, and other protective gear. Work in dusty areas with chemical odors. Must be fit for all duties listed.
