A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support an elementary school setting. This role is located in Leonardtown, MD, and is set for the current school year (CSY). The ideal candidate will have expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation to effectively facilitate communication for students, staff, and parents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide clear and accurate sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events.
• Assist in communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and educators to support academic achievement.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure an inclusive learning environment.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in interpretation services.
• Participate in school activities and training as needed to enhance interpretation skills.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with certification preferred.
• Experience interpreting in an educational setting, particularly with elementary-aged students.
• Strong understanding of deaf culture and sensitivity to communication needs.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to dynamic classroom environments and work collaboratively with education professionals.
