Overview Position Information Working Title: Art Figure Model (Part-time Applicant Pool) Department: School of the Arts Compensation Title: Figure Model Position Number: 30001992 Position Status: Temporary, Contract Work Schedule: Availability on one or multiple days during the drawing/painting courses for the spring or fall semesters. Generally, Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 9:00am – 11:40am and/or 12:15pm – 3:00pm. Each session will be a 3 hour block of time. Hours per Week: No more than 18. Months per Year: 9 Purpose of Position The Art & Design program in the School of the Arts at Northern Kentucky University seeks figure models for its Drawing and Painting courses. These courses seek nude figure models for drawing and painting courses. This is an open call for applicants. Applications will be used to build a qualified database of figure models for future instructional needs. Responsibilities Model will be available for posing in a studio course room as each class duration is three hours. The model will be required to pose nude for the class as a subject for student artists learning to draw or paint from life. The model should be able to hold poses from 30 seconds to 30 minutes. While athletic ability is not required, body awareness and the ability to twist, turn, bend and accentuate the 3-dimensional qualities of the figure in poses is highly desirable. Work is performed under the supervision of the class instructor during class hours; models must be able to work with instructors, be punctual, and record hours for each working session. Must be comfortable posing nude. All body types, shapes and sizes are encouraged to apply. Per NKU SOTA policy, NKU students may not pose nude. Work is performed in an interior closed-door classroom environment. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. At least 18 years of age or older. Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Ability to assume and hold a body position for assigned periods of time. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to deal tactfully with students, faculty, and administration in routine classroom contacts. General aptitude for art and art forms. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty and staff. Ability to communicate effectively orally, by phone, in person, and in writing. Ability to represent the program, SOTA and College in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner. Primarily light physical activity is required with occasional lifting and manipulation of objects up to 15 pounds. Must have the physical dexterity and stamina to meet specific poses required in the class. Preferred Qualifications Previous modeling experience. Experience with yoga, dance, and/or sports.
