Job Description

Scrum Ventures is an early-stage venture firm with offices in San Francisco and Tokyo. Leveraging our entrepreneurial expertise and robust network in Japan, we are committed to driving the global success of our portfolio companies. We are currently seeking an Analyst to join our U.S. investment team.

As an Analyst, you will play a key role in sourcing potential investments, screening companies, performing due diligence, supporting portfolio companies, and conducting sector and market research. This position offers a high level of autonomy and responsibility. We are particularly interested in candidates who are passionate about sports and entertainment technologies and excel in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Identify high-potential investment opportunities related to sports and entertainment through various channels.

  2. Screen initial investments to determine if resources should be allocated.

  3. Conduct diligence to analyze operational, technical, and financial aspects of companies.

  4. Support portfolio companies with various projects and value-add initiatives.

  5. Build strong relationships within the sports and entertainment community to support Scrum portfolio companies and source investment opportunities.

  6. Take comprehensive notes on companies under review and during meetings.

  7. Attend events, conferences, and networking functions to stay up to date on industry trends and build network.

  8. Conduct research and develop expertise in markets and sectors of interest to Scrum.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. 1-2 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or strategy consulting.

  2. Outstanding academic track record; pre and post-MBA candidates will be considered.

  3. Strong and demonstrated interest in technology, entrepreneurship, and venture capital.

  4. Strong interpersonal and quantitative skills.

  5. High attention to detail.

  6. Preference for working in a team environment and ability to self-start.

  7. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  8. Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

  9. Proficiency in presentation and Excel capabilities.
