Position Overview

Our client, a nationally recognized, growing mission-driven nonprofit, is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accountant. The Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, reimbursements, and payments.

Key Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable transactions accurately and efficiently using MIP (Sage MIP Fund Accounting).
• Match invoices with purchase orders and receipts, verify coding, and obtain approval for payment.
• Prepare and perform check runs, wire transfers, and ACH payments.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate records of accounts payable transactions in MIP.
• Assist with month-end closing activities related to accounts payable.
• Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain positive relationships with vendors.
• Assist with audits as necessary and provide documentation as required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in the accounts payable process utilizing MIP.
• Process semi-monthly payroll - reviewing for accuracy and completeness. Prepare all reports and submit to the Controller for approval, prior to submitting payroll to external payroll service. Prepare manual pay checks as required.
• Maintain vendor information, including W-9s, as needed for year-end 1099 issuance. Update and maintain authorized vendor list. Prepare 1099s at year end.

Qualifications

• Three years of previous experience in banking, accounts payable or general accounting.
• Any Abila MIP (Sage MIP Fund Accounting) a plus.
• Proficiency in excel.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in processing invoices and payments.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent work experience to waive degree requirement.
• Additional coursework in accounting or related field preferred.

This is onsite role at their office in Walnut Creek, CA free parking and commuter bus options.

Compensation

The hourly pay rate for this role is $30-35/hour, depending on experience.
